Antidrug Awareness Programme: Migrant Workers

The project “Awakening”; seeks to dissuade children from using drugs, instil confidence and train them in creative pursuits, and turn their minds from pernicious habits in a bid to spot and nourish their talents in arts and sports, thus saving the students future from being wrecked. An Anti-Drug Awareness Training Program will be conducted in collaboration with the Excise, Police and Narcotics Cell and will train the students of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth on raising awareness and counselling children/youth, suspected of using drugs.  

The trained students of CVV have been taking sessions for school students across Kerala. As of now, the NSS volunteers have interacted with more than five thousand students of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, and Trissur. The team Project awakening continues its journey across Kerala till 12th January 2023 National Youth Day.  

The Awakening is also taking sessions for around sixty migrant workers who work around the Pampakuda Panchayath. The first session was taken by Meenakshi Nair (3 rd Year BSc Applied Psychology) and Raj Kumar Bishnoi (2 nd year B.Ed.) on 4/12/2022 for Migrant Workers of Pampakuda Grama Panchayath Hall. At the end of the session the feedback of the workers was taken, where the majorly mentioned that they realized that they came Kerala to earn money, but have been spending it on drugs, which are leading to financial and other major crises.
