The NSS unit of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV) recently stepped up to provide crucial assistance to Anandan C. A., a 10-year-old student at Kendriya Vidyalaya Kadavanthra, bravely facing the challenges of Type 2 Spinal Muscular Atrophy. In June 2022, NSS and SEVA volunteers fundraised for Anandan’s scooter. Anandan’s condition restricts his mobility, making it impossible for him to walk.

Recently, Anandan’s mother reached out to the Arjavam clinic, expressing her difficulty in carrying Anandan, especially while taking him to school and the physiotherapy centre. Responding to this need, the Arjavam clinic, an NSS and SEVA initiative, collaborated with external philanthropists, raising ₹60,000 for an electric wheelchair.

Prof. Ajay Kapoor, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, presented the electric wheelchair to Anandan at an event held at the Warriam Road on December 8th. Prof. Kapoor pledged unwavering support from CVV to Anandan and his family. Dr. T. Asokan, Dean–Academics and Registrar in charge, and Dr. Gireesh Kumar, Dean of Research, were also present.

Mr. Rajeswar Govindan, COO of GWC, the primary donor of the wheelchair, joined the event online and extended his appreciation to the CVV family. Mrs. Jayalekha of JIO Network and two alumni also contributed making the initiative possible. Anandan’s family conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved.
